PORT OF MOMBASA POSTS RECORD 45 MILLION TONNES IN 2025, CEMENTING REGIONAL MARITIME LEADERSHIP

The Port of Mombasa closed 2025 on a historic high, recording its best performance ever in cargo handling and reinforcing its position as the leading maritime gateway for East and Central Africa. Total cargo throughput reached a record 45.45 million metric tons in 2025, up from 40.99 million tons handled in 2024. This represents an increase of 4.46 million metric tons, equivalent to a robust 10.9 percent growth, underscoring rising regional trade activity and strengthening economic momentum.
