The government has officially started work on restoring 33,000 hectares of Mau Forest, in an effort to protect the environment and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities. President William Ruto announced the launch of the restoration program, which aims to rehabilitate 3,000 hectares of the forest every year, to fully restore the entire 33,000 hectares within a decade. He stressed that the project is a collective effort, involving not just the government, but also local communities and the private sector.
