Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba has called for sweeping reforms in Kenya’s public universities to strengthen their role in national development and global competitiveness.
Speaking at the 2026 Public Universities Vice-Chancellors’ Summit in Mombasa, CS Ogamba emphasized that higher education institutions must evolve to meet international standards while addressing Kenya’s development goals. The summit, themed “Strengthening Public Universities' Sustainability, Quality, and Innovation for National Development and Global Competitiveness,” brought together university leaders to deliberate on strategic reforms in higher education.
