It is a relief for consumers of water in Ruiru and Juja sub-counties of Kiambu after the local distributor of the commodity scrapped a monthly standing charge. The move comes as the Ruiru Juja Water and Sewerage Company (Rujwasco) moves to review water tariffs which have remained unchanged over the last ten years. Consumers were being charged a standing fee of Sh 360 every month even when there was no change in meter readings. However, the meter charges are expected to increase in line with the rising cost of maintenance and electricity.
