Residents of Ndhuru village in Lambwe location, Suba North constituency, Homa Bay County, have raised concerns over a three-month power outage that has disrupted delivery of essential services and livelihoods. The power outage began after electricity poles fell along the Kipasi–Corner T Road leaving households, schools, businesses, and health facilities in darkness.
Electric poles have since been erected but cabling has delayed, leaving health services paralyzed at health centers unable to conduct safe deliveries for mothers or store vaccines due to lack of electricity. Learning has also been affected with students unable to attend evening preps while fishermen have reported huge losses due to lack of preservation facilities. The residents are appealing to the relevant authorities to intervene.
