Ruto cuts fuel VAT to 8% amid price backlash and protests threat

President William Ruto has announced a raft of measures aimed at protecting Kenyans from rising fuel costs, as global supply disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis continue to push prices upward. Speaking as he concluded his development tour of the Gusii region, President Ruto said the government had moved to intervene to shield households by reducing fuel VAT from 16 to 8 percent.
