The Senate now wants the House Committee on Security to investigate the circumstances that led to the police using live bullets, leading to the death of 5 residents of Angata Barikoi during recent protests on land demarcation.
While reacting to a statement sought on the floor by Senator Omtata on the alleged extrajudicial killing of residents in Angata Baragoi by police officers, Senators called for the rightful owners of the land to be identified to bring to an end the disputes over the land. The lawmakers further want the Independent Policing Oversight Authority IPOA investigations into the killings made public, including steps taken to hold accountable police officers who opened fire on unarmed residents in Angata Barikoi.
