Senate Committee wants President Ruto to persuade Uganda to remove non-tariff barriers

Senate's Trade Committee wants President William Ruto to engage his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni to consider removing non tarrif barriers slowing down trade between the two countries. The senators while visiting the Malaba one stop border post observed that despite the gateway surpassing its revenue targets, Kenyan traders were still facing difficulties accessing the Ugandan market compared to Ugandan traders accessing Kenya. The committee is also expected to engage the Kenya National Highways authority to prioritize expansion of infrastructure at the border gate.
