The Kenya Wildlife Service and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights clashed before a Senate committee over allegations of excessive force by KWS officers manning Lake Nakuru. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights tabled a report before the Senate Security and Defence Committee, indicting the KWS officers over arbitrary arrests and physical abuse of Kenyans fishing in the restricted Lake Nakuru, prompting an immediate protest from the KWS Director General, Erastus Kanga. As our parliamentary reporter, Gichuki Wachira, reports, the Senate committee now wants a retest of Lake Nakuru fish to ascertain whether it’s safe for human consumption.
