Despite qualifying for major international tournaments, the head coaches of the Junior Starlets and Harambee Starlets have raised concerns over the lack of formal employment contracts. They made the remarks during a visit to State House Nairobi, where they met President William Ruto earlier today.
Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche and Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba said that despite guiding their respective teams to qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), they are still serving without formal contracts. President William Ruto did not make an immediate commitment on rewarding the teams. However, he assured the coaches and players that all outstanding allowances had been paid, enabling the teams to fully focus on their preparations for WAFCON and the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
