Starmer resigns as UK prime minister

Keir Starmer has formally resigned as UK prime minister, ahead of Andy Burnham replacing him. In his final address as prime minister, he wished his successor well, saying he leaves office proud and with good grace. King Charles III also held an audience with Starmer and will welcome Burnham to Buckingham Palace to invite him to form a government. Burnham became Labour leader on Friday.
