Tana River basin residents urged to evacuate as flood risk rises

People living along the Tana River basin have been warned to move to higher ground as the river is expected to flood due to anticipated heavy rains over the next one week. The Kenya Meteorological Department, in its seven-day forecast, says the flood risk also extends to areas of Garissa, Hola and Garsen, while the rest of the country continues to experience moderate to heavy rains. The floods have already claimed one life in Nairobi.
