Teachers reject SHA cover, demand private health insurance and autonomy

    Teachers across the country have rejected being enlisted on the social health insurance cover, SHA and instead calling on the government to provide them with a private health insurance cover. Speaking during world teachers' day celebrations, junior secondary school teachers are also pushed on with their demand for autonomy and recognition separate from primary school teachers. Education cabinet secretary Julius Ogamba who presided over the ceremony promised that the government will employ 24,000 new teachers by the end of this year to address teachers’ shortage
