Team Kenya to the Africa Senior Athletics Championships is back in the country after an impressive outing in Accra, Ghana, where they secured 17 medals — five gold, five silver, and seven bronze. The team arrived in four batches after the conclusion of the championship on Sunday.
The medal haul elevated Kenya to second position overall, once again finishing behind South Africa for the second consecutive time. The championships provided a platform for athletes in short-distance and field events to showcase their potential.
Belinda Adhiambo secured a rare medal for Kenya in shot put, an achievement she says can be improved with early preparation ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Julius Yego also made history at the games by winning another gold medal, while sprinters in the relay teams also finished on the podium.
