Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki now says the government has agreed to a deal with 5 green grams growing counties that will see farmers benefit from their produce.
Speaking in Mukothima, Tharaka constituency where he was distributing seeds for planting as the rainy season kicks in, governor Njuki said a deal has been reached that will see the Kenya National Trade Corporation buy green grams after harvesting, at a price not lower than kes. 90 per KG, packed in 50kg bags, at aggregation centres in the 5 counties.
The county governments have taken it upon themselves to distribute seeds to farmers as the rains set in in anticipation for harvest after two months.
