Three new faces make Harambee Stars squad for AFCON qualifiers

    Three new faces have made it to the final national football team, Harambee Stars squad to face Eritrea and Guinea in the opening two rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Valencia youngster Amos Wanjala, Gor Mahia’s Sahriff Musa and Javan Ochieng’ of Hickory FC have made the final squad of 24 players. Captain Michael Olunga is back in the team, alongside defender Stanley Wilson and winger Mohammed Bajaber, who is currently unattached. Tusker FC goalkeeper Brian Bwire joins Gor Mahia’s Byrne Omondi and Nairobi United’s Faruk Shikalo, with nine players from the local league making the final squad. Kenya will host Eritrea before travelling to Guinea for the second fixture. Despite Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania qualifying automatically as hosts of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, the three countries are still taking part in the qualifiers to keep their squads active.
