Uganda President Museveni hails Kenya for prevailing over oil middlemen

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has commended President William Ruto for prevailing over middlemen who had previously infiltrated the oil business making a kill from export to Kampala. Museveni says after President William Ruto took power, Uganda entered a deal with Vitol Group in 2023, with Kenya allowing the energy multinational to pump their products through the Kenya Pipeline Company at subsidized prices. He said his initial remarks faulting the Kenyan government referred to events that happened in 2019 after being alerted by the late Cyrus Jirongo.
