Migori tree farmers will soon get paid for planting and nurturing trees to maturity as a way of generating income, conserving the environment and eradicating poverty. In the next three months, a total of 10,000 farmers from the county will be targeted for this noble initiative that aims to boost the welfare of the county residents as well as contribute to the tree cover. Tree Company (Treeco) Fund, the initiator of the programme dubbed ‘People-Planet-Profit’, is an environmental sustainability and poverty mitigation initiative aimed at reversing climate change in Kenya and Africa while at the same time catalysing investments among Kenya’s poor.
