The Maasai Mara community and residents of Narok County have secured a major legal victory after the Court of Appeal in Nakuru overturned an earlier Environment and Land Court ruling on the disputed 4,000-acre Olkiombo land. In a ruling delivered on March 6, 2025, Judge Charles Mbogo declared Kunini the rightful owner of the land and ordered him to be paid all revenue collected from Olkiombo since October 14, 1997. The ruling also allowed him to continue collecting revenue from the contested land pending the determination of the case.
