Treasury moves to tame rising fuel prices

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi is tonight assuring Kenyans that the government will do everything possible to ease fuel prices, which have risen to record levels across the country. Mbadi says the government is considering options including a reduction in VAT and increased funding for the fuel subsidy to provide relief at the pump, adding that he could hold talks with President William Ruto on the same. His Energy and Petroleum counterpart Opiyo Wandayi has called for calm, saying the government is working on measures to stabilise prices and ease the burden on households and businesses.
