Mamia ya wafuasi wa Rais wa Korea Yoon Suk Yeol walipinga kukamatwa kwake mbele ya ofisi inayochunguza makosa ya ufisadi ya maafisa wa ngazi ya juu katika mji wa Gwacheon Jumatano.
Maafisa wa Korea Kusini Jumatano walimkamata Rais aliyeondolewa na bunge Yoon Suk Yeol kufuatia tuhuma za uasi, huku kiongozi huyo akisema amekubali uchunguzi dhidi yake uendelee ili kuepusha “umwagaji damu”.
Yoon alionekana katika msafara wa magari akiwasili kwenye ofisi ya idara ya kupambana na ufisadi Jumatano asubuhi, ambayo inasimamia uchunguzi huo.
Maafisa wana saa 48 kumuhoji Yoon, baada ya hapo watatafuta hati ya kuendelea kumshikilia kwa siku 20 au kumuachia huru.
Yoon ni rais wa kwanza wa Korea Kusini kukamatwa akiwa madarakani, licha ya kuwa taifa hilo la Asia lina historia ya kuwafungulia mashtaka na kuwafunga jela viongozi wa zamani.
Polisi walikuwa walipeleka maafisa 3,200 kwenye makazi ya Yoon kutekeleza hati ya kumkamata Jumatano, ambako mamia ya waandamanaji wanaomuunga mkono Yoon na wanachama wa chama chake cha People Power walikuwa wamekusanyika kabla ya Alfajiri chini ya baridi kali. - Reuters
