Special Operations Group leads Kenya’s intelligence-driven counterterrorism efforts

The Kenya security apparatus has invested in unprecedented tactical and preventive techniques as it moves to secure the country from al-Shabaab-linked terror elements. Driven by the need to stay on top of the game, Special Operations Group, highly skilled and trained commandos drawn from major security agencies have covered major grounds in combating terror, resulting in reduced attacks in the Country. The elite operations group and is led by the national intelligence Service, NIS. And as Giverson Maina reports, the success has been attributed to the use of intelligence in their operations especially along Kenya-Somalia border, Boni Forest and surroundings considered as high risk.
