Police Constable, Klinzy Masinde Barasa, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering mask vendor Boniface Kariuki Mwangi during the June 17 protests in Nairobi. His legal counsels’ prayer to have him released on bail pending pre-trial however hit a snag as the office of the Director of public Prosecution strongly opposed his release. The High Court has ordered Masinde to be remanded until 19th August 2025 when bail hearing application will be heard.
