Relentless rains and severe flooding have claimed at least 41 lives in central Vietnam since the weekend, with rescue teams still searching for nine missing individuals. The flooding has submerged more than 52,000 homes and cut power to nearly half a million households and businesses, as rainfall in several regions exceeded 1.5 meters—surpassing historic peaks recorded in 1993. Coastal cities such as Hoi An and Nha Trang, as well as key coffee-growing regions in the central highlands, are among the hardest hit.
