As the year draws to a close, a group of youths in Thika has chosen action over celebration, spending the last day of December cleaning residential estates to protect their community from rising health risks. Members of the Ziduka Foundation cleared clogged drainages, roadsides, and public spaces in densely populated estates including Makongeni and Kiganjo, warning that poor waste disposal exposes residents, especially children, to waterborne diseases.
