The Kisumu high court has deferred the plea taking for Collins Okundi, the main suspect accused of shooting dead Barrack Oduor, Ida Odinga’s bodyguard in October. The office of the director of public prosecutions revealed that the accused had not been presented for a mental assessment, a prerequisite for all suspect facing murder charges. Justice Jackline Kamau ordered that the assessment be done on 8th of November, at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral hospital which only carries out mental assessment on Tuesdays. The accused will be remanded at the Kodiaga Maximum Prison, and will take plea on the 23rd of November. Collins Okundi allegedly shot Ida Odinga's bodyguard in October following a domestic spat, and injured one other person during the brawl in Kisumu's Mamboleo estate
