Stephen Vundi, the teacher who was recently killed in an Al shabaab attack in Garissa county has been laid to rest in Mwingi West constituency, Kitui county. Stephen is said to have previously received threats to his life while working in Garissa , an issue that he wrote several times to his employer, the teachers' service commission, requesting a transfer, but according to his family, those requests met no response. His killing saw renewed calls for the transfer of non-local teachers from the North-Eastern region. TSC officials present, however, assured teachers of their safety as they continue teaching in that region.
