The County Government of Mombasa has launched a major initiative to tackle historical land injustices and prevent unlawful evictions through the newly operational Ardhi Fund. Governor Abdulswamad Nassir signed into law the Public Finance Management Regulations, allocating 50 million shillings in the 2025/2026 financial year to facilitate land ownership and affordable housing. Mombasa County CEC for Lands, Mohamed Hussein, says the revolving fund will help resolve disputes between squatters and landowners through peaceful settlements while boosting title deed issuance from 2,500 to 30,000 by 2027.
