Pastoral communities in Samburu County are embracing carbon credit projects aimed at promoting environmental conservation and improving livelihoods.
The herders say the initiative has eased access to pasture and provided income to fund education, water projects, and health facilities. Environment Conservancy champions have called for stronger legal frameworks and full community participation in all project agreements. Samburu County currently has over 30 community conservancies engaged in carbon credit production.
