15-storey South C building flagged for violations before collapse, owner ignored warnings

The 15-storey building which collapsed today in south c area in Nairobi had been flagged at least 3 times by the Nairobi county enforcement teams after the developer extended its construction beyond the approved floors. The national construction authority has also revealed that the project was non-compliant at the time of collapse. Despite the warnings and arrests, the owner of the building is said to have continued with impunity to construct the building until today early morning when the building collapsed with at least 4 people buried in the debris.
