More than 17,500 dairy farmers in Kirinyaga are set to benefit from improved milk preservation and better market access following the distribution of 13 bulk milk coolers by the national government. The cooling facilities are expected to reduce post-harvest losses, improve milk quality and increase farmers' earnings through quality-based payments.
During the event, the national and county governments also rolled out several economic empowerment initiatives, including the disbursement of KSh20 million to ward-based SACCOs, distribution of grafted Ruiru 11 coffee seedlings, support for community water projects, and empowerment equipment for over 4,000 households aimed at improving livelihoods across the county.
