Agriculture Ministry orders tea board to drop mouth-tasting, adopt scientific grading

The Ministry of Agriculture has directed Tea Board of Kenya to abandon the traditional method of mouth-tasting tea for export grading and instead adopt scientific testing methods. This directive comes in response to growing dissent among farmers particularly from the Rift Valley region who claim that their tea is being unfairly graded. According to them, the current system favors farmers from other regions, leading to lower bonuses for their produce
