The use of low-cost mobile phones thhat are already in the country has not been banned. What has been banned is the importation of the phones popularly known as kabambe effective march 24th. The decision by CA has drawn mixed reaction, with majority of kenyans saying the move will lock a majority of kenyans out of communication. CA had in a public notice, announced that beginning 24th March 2024, there will be no entry into the country of any phones other than devices using USB Type-C as the charging interface.
