The Catholic Church is warning politicians against making reckless statements on education funding, especially regarding capitation. Led by Nairobi archbishop Philip Anyolo, the church says such remarks affect all learners and undermine efforts to make education free and fair in the country. Capitation delays have already affected many catholic sponsored schools, and the church is meeting with principals to hear their concerns and chart the way forward. The church insists education is the only tool that can uplift children from poor backgrounds and is calling on the government to protect and strengthen free education. They spoke during the annual Catholic Schools Principals' Association of Kenya conference.
