The ministry of Trade is raising the alarm over the impact of the continued conflict in the Middle East on kenya's global trade. The Cabinet secretary Lee Kinyanjui in a statement released today says Kenya's trade worth 164 billion shillings is now at risk following the disruption to trade routes and logistics occasioned by the war in iran. the disruptions have caused an increase in transit times by as much as 20 days, and delays of air cargo by upto 48 hours, negatively impacting trade in perishable and fresh produce. The government, however says it is instituting mitigation measures including tax reforms, and keen monitoring of fuel prices as well as seeking alternative cargo routs and enhancing efficiency at the country's key getways.
