Curbing Fish Theft: New fish landing sites to be built in 5 coastal counties

    The national government, through the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute has announced plans to renovate modern fish landing sites across five coastal counties following approval of a budget totaling 1.4 billion shillings for the construction. Speaking at Mwandamu in Kwale County, Cabinet Secretray Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Salim Mvurya said the new sites will be built in Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale counties. The project will include installation of essential security infrastructure including CCTV cameras to curb fish theft.
