Healthcare services in Embu County could be disrupted after nurses issued a seven-day strike notice, threatening to withdraw their services over alleged delays in the implementation of agreed terms.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses, Embu branch, has accused the county government of failing to honour a 2024 agreement that required the promotion of specialist nurses, nurses aged 57 years and above, as well as those who have remained in the same job group for more than seven years.
Branch secretary Macharia Kanderi says the delays have frustrated health workers, warning that nurses will paralyse health services across the county if the agreement is not fully implemented within seven days.
