Farmers staring at losses following macadamia ban

Macadamia farmers across the country are raising concern over mounting losses due to a ban on harvesting and trading of raw macademia nuts, saying the restriction has disrupted their income flow as peak harvest season approaches, leaving them exposed to losses and theft of their produce, while those who had not harvested are left with crop in farms. According to farmers from Kirinyaga the ban put in place by the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), restricting harvest and trade of macadamia for two and a half months, since the 1st of December last year needs to be reviewed
