The Federation of Kenya Employers is warning that frequent protests and disruptions to business activities are costing the country billions of shillings in lost man-hours and reduced productivity. While acknowledging that the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful demonstrations, the employers' body says businesses must also be allowed to operate without disruption. The remarks come after another day of suppressed business activity in Nairobi's Central Business District, where many shops remained closed as owners prioritised safety amid tensions surrounding the Saba Saba commemoration.
