Floods kill 2 more, toll rises to 85

    Now, to the flooding situation across the country. The death toll from the ongoing rains has risen to 85, after two children were killed in a mudslide in Kitende village, Kilungu Sub-county, Makueni County. Meanwhile, residents of Elgon View estate in Uasin Gishu County are counting losses after floodwaters from River Sosiani spilled into their homes. Environment Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa has warned those living in flood-prone areas to relocate immediately, as the heavy rains continue. The government has also issued a warning this evening after River Nyando burst its banks at Ahero Bridge along the Kericho–Awasi–Kisumu road. Water from the river has overflowed onto the roadway, with levels continuing to rise, posing serious risks to motorists and other road users.
