Fuel consumption rose by 10% in 2025

The country's petroleum sector made a strong comeback, with fuel consumption rising by over 10 percent in 2025 to reach 6.5 billion litres, according to the Petroleum Institute of East Africa. The growth was driven mainly by transport and business activity, with petrol and diesel demand increasing, alongside a sharp rise in industrial fuel use. However, jet fuel demand declined, as more households shifted to LPG.
