Traditional healers in Ganze, Kilifi County, are increasingly referring patients to health facilities in a move aimed at improving access to safe and timely medical care and reducing the spread of diseases, including HIV.
The healers said they are particularly referring pregnant women and patients with chronic conditions to hospitals, citing the dangers of delayed treatment. They also raised concerns about the use of blunt instruments during some traditional procedures, which can increase the risk of disease transmission.
