Gikomba traders protest relocation amid land-grab fears

Protests erupted at Gikomba Market as traders opposed a government plan to relocate them, claiming the alternative site designated for their businesses has been taken over by cartels allegedly demanding bribes before allocating stalls. The traders also rejected a directive requiring them to move 50 metres away from the Nairobi River, alleging the plan is a scheme to force them out and pave the way for land grabbing.
