The State Department for Mining has held a public participation forum in Kisii County to gather public views on proposed mining laws, policies and regulations aimed at attracting investment, improving safety standards and ensuring local communities benefit more from Kenya's mineral resources.
The proposed legal framework includes the Draft Explosives Bill, 2026, the Minerals, Mining and Beneficiation Policy, the Mine Health, Safety and Environment Regulations, and the Explosives (Licences and Fees) Regulations, 2026.
