Kenya Bankers Association urges further cut in Central Bank rate to boost lending

    The country’s banking sector is piling pressure on the Central Bank to further cut the benchmark lending rate ahead of Tuesday’s Monetary Policy Committee meeting. In its latest research note, the Kenya Bankers Association says an additional reduction in the Central Bank Rate, currently at 9.25 percent, is necessary to boost private-sector lending and, ultimately, support economic growth.
