Kenya formally exits the COMESA Sugar Safeguard barriers

After nearly a quarter-century under a regional safety net, Kenya has taken a consequential step to formally exit the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) sugar safeguard regime. The move effectively means that Kenya will be exposed to sugar imports in the absence of the safeguards.
