Kenya joins the globe in marking World Teachers Day

Teachers welfare and implementation of the new education curriculum took centre stage during the national celebrations to mark World Teacher’s Day. More than 3,000 teachers gathered for the fete on Sunday in Nairobi, amid calls to employ more teachers on permanent and pensionable terms as well as address the teacher shortage, promotions and implementation of the curriculum. This comes as government says it will employ 24,000 more teachers by January 2026, to bridge student teacher gap. John Kahiro has details of the celebrations.
