The Kenya Kwanza administration's plan to compensate victims of human rights violations faces major delays due to failure by the National Treasury to release funds to conduct the work required. The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) says the funding shortfall has made it impossible to reach many victims across the country, with the period allowed to submit information on victims of human rights violations expiring today. KNCHR has documented only 1,563 victims nationwide, citing financial constraints as the main obstacle. Many victims remain unreachable due to cost, distance, or illness.
