Kikuyu elders oppose attempts to amend the constitution in 2027

The Kikuyu Council of Elders has opposed the proposal to amend the constitution through a referendum alongside the 2027 general elections. This comes just a day after Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, while at a cultural event in Vihiga County, said Kenya is in a constitutional moment. The opposition leaders, including DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, have also dismissed the calls, saying it’s not a priority for Kenyans.
