KILIFI STEPS UP EL NIÑO DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Kilifi County is stepping up disaster preparedness measures ahead of the expected El Niño rains forecast to begin in October. Governor Gideon Mung'aro says the county government, in partnership with the national government, the Kenya Red Cross, and other stakeholders, is implementing measures to reduce the risk of flooding. These include improving infrastructure, clearing blocked rivers and drainage systems, and expanding the Kazi Mtaani youth employment programme to support cleanup efforts.
